The 2015 NBA Draft Preview

“A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.” -J.R.R. Tolkien

I’ve been away for a while.

However, I was not about to let the draft happen and not put up the preview. That would have been a travesty.

If you’re new here, welcome. An fabulous and detailed explanation of my kick-ass draft model is here.  Also, interactive advanced stats for every single player in the NCAA for this year, are here for all players (http://basketballnumbers.com/ncaa-numbers-2/2015-ncaa-interactive/)

NCAA Dash 1

and with detailed rankings here ( http://basketballnumbers.com/ncaa-numbers-2/ncaa-player-ratings/) for each individual player.

Player Ratings

You are here for the moneyshot though. Here are the Rankings for all the NCAA players in the Draft Express top 100 (as of about an hour ago) and the most highly rated unranked seniors.

2015 Draft #1

The likely first three names off the board (Towns, Okafor and Russell) look to be money. Interestingly, it’s Russell then Okafor then Towns when ranked by model expectations.  Stein and Winslow look to be the top five duds.

Given that the Spurs are looking to move up to the middle of the draft, I’d expect that if they do, it’ll be Bobby Portis or Cameron Payne that they’re looking to nab.

Let’s give it to you by order of ranking as well.

2015 Draft #2

All in all this is a solid looking draft.

I am aware that I have not ranked the Euros this year. I will be coming back to this later in the offseason. I will point you again to the 2014 euro tool which has all of the euro prospects listed.

Have fun everyone.

Arturas Gudaitis, one of the best young bigs in professional basketball, he plays for Zalgaris. I wonder if he is on SA’s radar.

    Hey Arturo,

Great to see this. I was hoping to see something to analyse the Lakers picks against. Unfortunately I couldn’t review it before the draft but nice to see the Lakers not screw up the second pick while having mediocre late 1st and 2nd round picks.

Would have loved your analysis on the finals and for your automated game recaps to be up to date.

All in all love your work and appreciate the struggles with real life and time. Definitely look forward to seeing any future posts and will check in regularly.
